The Participants' Rating of Their Expertise

R - How good do you think you are in general with computers, like on a scale of 1 - 5, one is great and five is good, how would you rate yourself?

Lisa - 2 or 3

Tom - 2.5 or 3
Jake - 3 in computers, between 1 and 2 in both lighting and sound

thisis a key issue; if presumably you're going to cite these people ass expertise, than obviously one theme you're going to have to deal with in one data chapter or another is the way 'experts' generally distance themselves from this label...

I was wondering how kids think about this term. Do these use different terms to describe what we might call expertise? The hard part is what do they see as constituting this sit of skills/knowledges.

A couple of the kids had no idea that 'expertise' was an extension word of 'expert'. They didn't really contribute much, because they didn't understand the word (which I didn't realize soon enough). Anyway, I will post some other findings which really do explain what they think, and I think this will address what they see as constituting this site of skills and knowledge. But, as to what they call it in their own words? Might remain a mystery.
